The Snapshot Press Book Awards
The Snapshot Press Book Awards are international annual prizes for unpublished book-length collections of haiku, tanka, short poetry and haibun.
The Award winners will have their collections published in paperback or hardback by Snapshot Press. There may be up to four Award winners each year.
Submissions are open from July 1–November 30. The winners will be announced on April 30 the following year and published six months later.
Please see the guidelines for details.
The Snapshot Press eChapbook Awards
The Snapshot Press eChapbook Awards are international annual prizes for unpublished short collections of haiku, tanka, short poetry and haibun.
The Award winners will have their collections published online by Snapshot Press. There may be up to eight Award winners each year. The winning eBooks will be made freely available on the Snapshot Press website, with the potential to reach a far wider audience than limited print editions.
A print anthology, featuring a selection of the best individual poems and haibun entered into the contest, will be published by Snapshot Press after the eBooks have been published. Each entrant will receive a copy of the print anthology.
Submissions are open from March 1–July 31. The winners will be announced on October 31 and the eBooks will be published two to three months later.
Please see the guidelines for details.
The Haiku Calendar
All work included in the The Haiku Calendar is selected each year from entries to the Haiku Calendar Competition.
The deadline for The Haiku Calendar Competition 2012 (for work to be considered for the 2013 calendar) is January 31, 2012. Entries may now be sent by email as well as by post. Please see the entry guidelines for details.
The Snapshot Press Collection Competition
Founded in 1998, this contest was replaced in 2011 by the Snapshot Press Book Awards (for book-length collections) and the Snapshot Press eChapbook Awards (for short collections).
Book publication
Book manuscripts may be submitted to the Snapshot Press eChapbook Awards (from March 1–July 31 each year) and the Snapshot Press Book Awards (from July 1–November 30) each year).
No further awards to those detailed will be made, though Snapshot Press may, at its discretion, approach further entrants with a view to publishing their book (as per the standard publication contract) or eBook, at any time.
Beyond these awards, we are not currently considering unsolicited manuscripts or fielding enquiries regarding book publication, and are unable to respond to any such enquiries at present.
Journal submissions
We are not currently publishing any journals. Please do not submit to Snapshots or Tangled Hair as publication of both journals ceased in 2006.
