Ebb Tide: Selected Haiku
John Crook

Many people in the haiku world were saddened by John Crook's death in 2001, after a long and brave struggle with cancer.

This posthumous collection has been edited by Brian Tasker with close cooperation from John's family.

summer solstice—
the sun reaches a new place
on the fridge

      her kiss
      on the bus window
      travels with me

Remembrance Day—
the thin sound of a bugle
wavers in the rain

            reading in bed
            she turns her page
            I turn mine

sleepless night
somewhere in the snow
a cow bellows
