Synopsis

The Snapshot Press Collection Competition was established in 1998 and is now an annual event, alternating between tanka and haiku.

It provides a rare and equal opportunity for authors to have a collection published in a professional manner, regardless of reputation and publishing history.

The 2005 winning tanka collection, First Light, First Shadows by George Swede, will be published in 2006. A previous tanka winner, Cherie Hunter Day's Early Indigo (Snapshot Press, 2000), went on to receive a Merit Book Award from the Haiku Society of America. Numerous other collections have also been published to critical acclaim as a result of entry into this contest. All of these books are available to order here.
